IN THE MATTER OF Resolution Recognizing the Retirement of Mayor Teresa Onoda from the Town of Moraga

 

WHEREAS, Mayor Onoda was elected to the town council in 2014. She was Mayor in 2017 and Vice Mayor in 2018. After a two year break she was elected again in 2020 and served a four-year term that concludes in 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, Mayor Onoda expressed her love for California in a new way when she ran for public office on a platform of land preservations; In 2018 the town passed an ordinance making open space much more protected than ever before. She worked hard to prepare the town for a sustainable future for our residents and the animals alike; and

 

WHEREAS, Teresa has been on the steering committee of Preserve Lamorinda Open Space, a group dedicated to protecting the views of ridgelines and open space. She served for two years on the Moraga Planning Commission before running for Town Council; and

WHEREAS, Teresa Onoda is a well-known California landscape painter whose work can be found in the homes of collectors from coast to coast. She has been featured at galleries in places such as Carmel, San Francisco’s Union Square, and Vail, Colorado; and

WHEREAS, Teresa has roots in a group that painted in the Bay Area in the early 1900’s called “The Society of Six”. Several members of the Society of Six passed on their craft to young local painters.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby honor

 

Teresa Onoda
