RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT a Resolution approving the Side Letter between the County of Contra Costa and IFPTE, Local 21, modifying Appendix E of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parties to add the new classification of Respiratory Care Services Supervisor (VIHB) to the list of classifications eligible for shift differential pay.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Costs were included in the estimate provided for adoption when the classification was established by the Board of Supervisors and will be absorbed by the Department. The cost will be limited to 5% of the base salary of the Respiratory Care Services Supervisor classification, or approximately $6,600 annually.
BACKGROUND:
The new classification of Respiratory Care Services Supervisor (VIHB) was established by the Board of Supervisors on December 6, 2022. This Side Letter adds the new classification to the list of classifications eligible for shift differential pay.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Employees in the classification will not be eligible for shift differential pay, which may impact recruitment and retention efforts.

IN THE MATTER OF the Side Letter between Contra Costa County and IFPTE, Local 21, amending Appendix E of the Memorandum of Understanding to add the new classification of Respiratory Care Services Supervisor (VIHB) to the list of classifications eligible for shift differential pay.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors acting in its capacity as the governing body of Contra Costa County RESOLVES THAT:
Effective the first of the month following approval of the Board of Supervisors, the Side Letter between Contra Costa County and IFPTE, Local 21 be ADOPTED.
