Resolution recognizing the Retirement of Danville Town Manager Joe CALABRIGO
Whereas, the Danville Town Council first appointed Joe Calabrigo to the Town Manager position in 1993, and he was only the third person to hold the position since the Town’s incorporation in 1982; and
Whereas, Joe first joined the Town staff as Chief of Planning, and served as Transportation Director, Administrative Services Director, and Assistant Town Manager; and
Whereas, during his tenure, Joe played a pivotal role in shaping the town's planning and development, the creation of its hillside ordinance which has protected Danville’s scenic ridges, oversaw the creation of all three General Plans and both Downtown Master Plans; and
Whereas, Joe’s leadership ensured the town's fiscal health, delivering balanced budgets even through economic downturns and a global pandemic; and
Whereas, over his 40-year career with the Town, Joe has worked alongside 20 councilmembers and 7 police chiefs, and is widely respected for his collaboration and leadership across the region; and
Whereas, Supervisor Andersen developed tremendous respect for Joe’s leadership when she served on the Danville Town Council from 2003-2012 and valued his fiscal responsibility, ability to see the potential in town staff and move employees into positions where they would excel, and his clear vision for creating the beautiful community that Danville is today; and
Whereas, Supervisor Andersen continued to respect Joe’s opinion on town, county and state issues and always enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate and discuss with Joe a wide variety of issues even after she joined the Board of Supervisors; and
Whereas, as the longest-serving city manager in the East Bay, Joe Calabrigo's retirement on June 30, 2025, marks the end of an era for Danville.
Now, therefore be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby honor
Joe Calabrigo
For his passion and dedication to the community of Danville
PASSED by a vote of the Board of Supervisors this 17 day of June, 2025.
