RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment Agreement #26-744-6 with the Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, an educational institution, effective December 1, 2024, to amend Contract #26-744 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-744-1 through #26-744-5) to increase the payment limit by $9,000, from $530,000 to a new payment limit of $539,000, for additional residency training with no change in the term of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2027.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this Amendment will increase the expenditures by $9,000 for a three-year period and is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

 

BACKGROUND:

This Affiliation Agreement with the Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine share a commitment to educating family physicians to serve the needs of California and the nation, including the establishment and maintenance of high-quality residency training programs in family medicine. Contra Costa Health (CCH) recognizes that a family medicine residency training program affiliation with Contractor services its interests by enhancing the program in the appointment of qualified teaching physicians at CCH to the Contractor’s clinical faculty.

 

On August 6, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-744 with the Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, in an amount of $35,000, to provide a residency training program in family medicine, for the period from May 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.

 

On February 3, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment #26-744-1 to increase the payment limit by $70,000 to a new total of $105,000 for additional residency training with no change in the original term.

 

On May 10, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment/Extension #26-744-2 to extend the termination date form June 30, 2016 to June 30, 2019 with no change in the payment limit.

 

On March 28, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment #26-744-3 to increase the payment limit by $105,000 to a new total of $210,000 with no change in the term.

 

On March 12, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment/Extension #26-744-4 to increase the payment limit by $120,000 to a new total of $330,000 and extend the termination date from June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2022.

 

On March 1, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved Amendment/Extension #26-744-5 to increase the payment limit by $200,000 to a new total of $530,000 and extend the termination date from June 30, 2022 to June 30, 2027.

 

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-744-6 will allow the Contractor to provide additional residence training, through June 30, 2027. This Contract includes mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance of this Contract.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Amendment is not approved, the County will not have a residency training program in family medicine at CCRMC.
