Report Title: Amendment Agreement #26-748-11 with Mauricio Kuri, MD, PC
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment Agreement #26-748-11 with Mauricio Kuri, MD, PC, a professional corporation, effective November 1, 2024, to amend Contract #26-748-10, to increase the payment limit by $1,350,000, from $2,550,000 to a new payment limit of $3,900,000, to provide additional plastic surgery services including supervision of the Physician Assistant (PA) staffed clinics at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Amendment will result in additional contractual service expenditures of up to $1,350,000 and will be funded as budgeted 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers relies on contractors to provide necessary specialty health services to its patients. Contractor provides plastic surgery services including, but not limited to: clinic coverage, consultation, on-call coverage, and medical and surgical procedures. CCRMC has contracted with Dr. Kuri for plastic surgery services since July 15, 2013. This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code § 1451. Health Services Personnel approved this Contract to ensure no conflicts with labor relations.
On June 25, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-748-10 with Mauricio Kuri, MD, PC, in an amount of $2,550,000, for the provision of plastic surgery services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-748-11 will increase the payment limit and allow the Contractor to provide additional plastic surgery clinic supervision coverage services with no change in the original term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Amendment is not approved, County will not have the additional plastic surgery clinic supervision coverage services needed for patient care and will create increased wait times due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community.
