FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact for this action.
BACKGROUND:
The Family and Children’s Trust Committee (FACT) was established in 1985 by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors to make funding recommendations on the allocation of a variety of funds for prevention and intervention services to reduce child abuse and neglect, provide supportive services to families and children, and promote a more coordinated, seamless system of services for families. Funding for FACT supported projects are derived from Federal and State program legislation and donations to the County FACT fund.
Ms. Pereira-Sekhon notified Staff to FACT on May 21, 2024 of her resignation to the Family and Children’s Trust Committee. Ms. Pereira-Sekhon has served on the FACT Committee since January 19, 2021 with the most recent re-appointment to the At-Large Seat 3 on November 7, 2023 (C.19) and realigned to At-Large Seat 2 on March 19, 2024 (C.11) with a term expiration date of September 30, 2025.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to declare this vacancy will delay making a new appointment to the seat.
CHILDREN’S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The FACT Committee roles and responsibilities support all five community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by providing funding recommendations to the BOS on the allocation of designated funds to support the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and the promotion of positive family functioning in Contra Costa County.
