☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to purchase order #31054 with Stryker Sales, LLC to increase the payment limit by $15,330 to a new amount not to exceed $210,330 for the purchase of surgical instruments, medical supplies, and other supplies as needed for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC), and extend the term through March 31, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in additional expenditures of up to $15,330 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Stryker Sales, LLC is a subsidiary of Stryker Corporation that handles the sales and distribution of Stryker’s medical products in the United States. This includes surgical instruments, implants, and other medical devices. Essentially, Stryker Sales, LLC is the commercial and logistical arm that ensures Stryker products reach healthcare facilities and are supported after purchase.
CCRMC’s Operating Room (OR) utilizes a comprehensive range of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment to support the full spectrum of procedures performed across orthopedic, neurosurgical, spine, and general surgery specialties. The OR relies on an extensive inventory of reusable surgical tools, including precision drills, high-speed saws, powered surgical handpieces, retractors, forceps, clamps, and various endoscopic instruments essential for both open and minimally invasive operations. These instruments are designed to withstand repeated sterilization cycles while maintaining structural integrity, accuracy, and clinical performance. In addition to traditional surgical tools, the OR incorporates a broad array of advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive technologies. This includes high-definition surgical cameras, rigid and flexible scopes, endoscopic towers, image-guided visualization systems, surgical monitors, light sources, insufflators, and integrated OR video and imaging platforms. These systems are critical for supporting laparoscopic, arthroscopic, and other minimally invasive procedures, enabling enhanced visualization, improved surgical precision, and reduced patient recovery times.
Through the use of this comprehensive equipment portfolio, CCRMC’s OR is able to maintain high standards of surgical care, support a wide range of clinical specialties, and ensure that surgical teams have the tools and technologies required to perform safe, efficient, and effective procedures.
Stryker Sales, LLC is a supplier of the Vizient Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), which means that CCRMC, a Vizient member, is eligible to receive rebates and access lower pricing. Purchases are governed by the Vizient Supplier Agreement entered into between Vizient Supply, LLC and Stryker Sales, LLC on January 1, 2021 (Agreement No. MS9514).
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to secure the necessary equipment and supplies required to support ongoing surgical operations.
