RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-696-3 with GE Precision Healthcare, LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $259,000 to provide preventive maintenance and repair services to Trophon medical instrument sterilizing equipment located throughout Contra Costa County for the period December 24, 2025 through December 31, 2030
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Contract will result in annual budgeted expenditures of up to $259,000 over a five-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) has been contracting with GE Precision Healthcare LLC, since August 19, 2020 to provide preventive maintenance and repair services to Trophon medical instrument sterilizing equipment located throughout Contra Costa County. Trophon sterilizers are used to sterilize medical instruments all over the County. Sterilization is crucial to keep instruments clean and protect patients from infection. This Contractor was approved by the Public Works Department’s Purchasing Division on June 18, 2025.
This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000 This Contract was approved by Health Services Personnel to ensure there is no conflict with labor relations. CCRMC’s Quality Management, Utilization Management and Contract Monitor Staff meet on a regular basis to ensure monitoring and performance measures in the Contract are upheld. This Contractor was approved by the Public Works Department’s Purchasing Division on June 18, 2025.
On January 19, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-696 with GE Precision Healthcare LLC, in an amount not to exceed $122,000, for the provision of preventive maintenance and repair services to Trophon medical instrument sterilizing equipment located throughout Contra Costa County for the period August 19, 2020 through August 18, 2025. This contract contained mutual indemnification.
On July 18, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment #76-696-1, effective July 1, 2023, to increase the payment limit by $100,000 to a new payment limit of $222,000 and to extend the term from August 18, 2025 to December 23, 2025 to continue providing maintenance and repair services.
On January 9, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment #76-696-2, effective September 1, 2023, to increase the payment limit by $37,000 to a new payment limit of $259,000 for additional maintenance and repair services with no change in the term ending December 23, 2025.
Approval of Contract #76-696-3 will allow the Contractor to continue providing preventive maintenance and repair services through December 31, 2030. This contract is late due to extensive language review and negotiations between County Counsel, the Division and Contractor.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Contract is not approved, some medical facilities located within the County will not have access to Contractor’s sterilization services, crucial to keep instruments clean and protect patients from infection.
