Report Title:                     Agreements for Site Rentals for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Clerk-Recorder, or designee, to execute contracts with various locations in a total amount not to exceed $11,114.25 for rentals of Polling Places, Regional Early Voting Sites, Training Venues, and Depot Locations, as applicable for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The total cost of 16 sites is $11,114.25, which will be paid for using 100% General Fund monies.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Elections Division of the Clerk-Recorder’s office will provide 147 polling places, 5 Regional Early Voting (REV) Sites, utilize 9 poll worker Training Venues, and 10 Depot Locations on Election Night throughout the County for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election.

 

Sites identified for rental agreements and listed on the attached table include:

-                     Nick Rodriguez Community Center,

-                     Antioch Community Center,

-                     Brentwood Community Center,

-                     Golden Hills Community Church,

-                     Pittsburg United Methodist Church,

-                     Lions Center for the Visually Impaired,

-                     Oakley Recreation Center,

-                     Center for Community Arts,

-                     Diablo Valley College Parking Lot #9,

-                     Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building,

-                     Local 302 IBEW,

-                     Easter Hill United Methodist Church,

-                     Richmond Memorial Auditorium,

-                     San Pablo Library Community Room,

-                     San Pablo Community Center, and

-                     San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church.

 

For training, the agreements provide the County with use of sites between May 11 and May 22. For REVs, the agreements provide the County with use of the sites on May 29, May 30, and June 1. For election day voting, as well as set up and take down of voting equipment, and for Depot locations for election night, the agreements provide the County with the use of the sites on June 2, 2026.

 

The Facility Rental Applications and User Agreements for these sites contain an indemnification and hold harmless provision, whereby the County agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of the sites for use of these sites as voting and training locations.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

 

The Elections Division will not be able to use these sites for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election.
