RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of County Contract Amendment Agreement #76-665-5 with Metropolitan Van and Storage Inc., a corporation, effective October 1, 2023, to amend Contract #76-665-3, to modify the rates and services to continue to provide moving and storage services of heavy furniture and equipment at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers, with no change in the original payment limit of $800,000, and no change in the original term of October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this amendment will result in no change to the original budgeted expenditures of up to $800,000 and is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have been contracting with Metropolitan Van and Storage Inc. since October 2019 to provide moving and storage services of furniture and equipment as required by CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers staff.
On June 13, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-665-3 with Metropolitan Van and Storage Inc. in an amount not to exceed $800,000, to provide moving and storage services of furniture and equipment for CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2026.
Approval of Amendment #76-665-5 will allow contractor to modify the rates and services for providing moving and storage services through September 30, 2026. The delay of this amendment was due to on-going negotiations between the Department and contractor regarding the rates and services that were left out in the original contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers will not have access to contractor’s services to move, store or transport furniture and equipment as needed by the facilities.
