The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California
IN THE MATTER OF recognizing Soraya Dang as the 2026 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Leadership & Civic Engagement, Rising Star
WHEREAS, Soraya Dang, 7th grade student at Pleasant Hill Middle School, is an outstanding student leader and the founder and president of her school’s Community Service Club, which she established to create meaningful opportunities for students to improve both their campus and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, Soraya has led impactful initiatives including a campus beautification project, a school-wide food drive that collected hundreds of pounds of food for local families, and a Kindness Challenge that encouraged students to support and uplift one another; and
WHEREAS, Soraya continues to demonstrate visionary leadership by developing a program designed to support incoming 6th grade students as they transition into middle school, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment; and
WHEREAS, Soraya exemplifies leadership through her initiative, compassion, and ability to mobilize her peers to take action, creating lasting and positive change within her school community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby recognize Soraya Dang as the 2026 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Leadership & Civic Engagement Rising Star, and commend her for exemplifying the enduring values of service, integrity, kindness, activism, and leadership inspired by the Farmworkers’ Rights Movement and the many individuals who have dedicated their lives to advancing dignity, equity, and justice for others.
