Dhruv Subramanian is an 8th grader from Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, CA.

IN THE MATTER OF recognizing Dhruv Subramanian as the 2024 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Leadership & Civic Engagement Rising Star.

 

WHEREAS, every March, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hosts a celebration in honor of César E. Chávez in recognition of his commitment to social justice and respect for human dignity; and

 

WHEREAS, this year's theme is Perseverance & Progress - Perseverancia y Progreso; and

 

WHEREAS, we take this opportunity to share stories of local students who are working hard to move us forward and improve the lives of others; and

 

WHEREAS, we recognize these students with the Youth Hall of Fame Awards during the celebration for their contributions to our community and in the spirit of one of our country’s most treasured activists: César E. Chávez; and

 

WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is proud to recognize Dhruv Subramanian, an 8th grader from Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, CA; and

 

WHEREAS, Dhruv has represented Contra Costa County in state and national level spelling bees and placed 5th at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in his very first Nationals appearance; and

 

WHEREAS, Dhruv is active on the school student council and has suggested and pushed for many changes that will be beneficial to students at his school. Some of the changes he advocated for were lunch line management and fixing water fountains at the school; and

 

WHEREAS, Dhruv has created two clubs while at Windermere, which are Wordle/Language Club and the Business Club and is an executive member of Model United Nations and Strategy Games Club; and

 

WHEREAS, Dhruv volunteers with East Bay SPCA and has over 50 volunteer hours with them. He has created a documentary promoting animal adoption titled, “Adopt. Don’t Shop” which was recognized at the PTSA Reflections this year.

 

WHEREAS, Dhruv also finds time to volunteer at his school as a peer tutor and is currently an executive member of California Junior Scholarship Federation.  

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors recognizes Dhruv Subramanian as the 2024 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Leadership & Civic Engagement Rising Star, and for exemplifying the values of service, integrity, kindness, activism, and leadership that César Chávez embodied through his life.
