RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-945 with Alta Med Spec LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for the provision of analytical testing services for surface, personnel, and media fill sampling related to employee competency testing for Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) for the period May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2028.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $100,000 over a two-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
Contractor will provide analytical testing services for microbial surface samples, gloved fingertip and thumb samples, surface samples, and media fill tests as it relates to employee competency testing from the Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) as required by the California State Board of Pharmacy Law, California Code of Regulations Title 16, Sections 1736 for garbing and hand hygiene competency and aseptic manipulation competency. Contractor’s services will provide real time information with access to samples and results anytime.
This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000. CCRMC’s Quality Management, Utilization Management and Contract Monitor staff meet on a regular basis to ensure monitoring and performance measures in the Contract are upheld. Health Services Personnel approved this Contract to ensure no conflict with labor relations.
Approval of Contract #76-945 will allow the Contractor to provide analytical testing services at CCRMC through April 30, 2028. This Contract includes a mutual indemnification provision to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance under this Contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to meet these analytical testing and competency standards at CCRMC carries severe risks including legal non-compliance and potential patient harm.
