and for Special Districts, Agencies and Authorities Governed by the Board

IN THE MATTER OF honoring Michael J. Huth on the occasion of his retirement from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, as recommended by Supervisor Carlson.

 

 

WHEREAS, Michael J. Huth has faithfully dedicated his professional career to the protection of the public and the service of his community through his unwavering commitment to law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Officer Huth began his distinguished career with the Walnut Creek Police Department, where he proudly served as a Patrol Officer and as a member of the Bomb Squad Team, demonstrating exceptional courage, professionalism, and dedication to public safety; and

WHEREAS, Officer Huth continued his exemplary service with the Concord Police Department, where he served with distinction as a member of the Gang Enforcement Team, a Field Training Officer, a member of the S.W.A.T. Team, and a Crime Scene Investigator, mentoring future officers while contributing to countless successful investigations and high-risk operations; and

WHEREAS, Officer Huth concluded his law enforcement career with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, serving on the County Board of Supervisors Security Unit, where he continued to exemplify the highest standards of integrity, vigilance, and public service; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Officer Huth consistently demonstrated extraordinary courage and selfless devotion to duty, earning numerous prestigious commendations, including:

  Medal of Valor - Walnut Creek Police Department (1999), for bravery during an armed suspect shootout.

 

  MADD Award - Walnut Creek Police Department (2002), for leading the department in DUI arrests.

 

  Silver Star Medal - Concord Police Department (2008), for apprehending an armed bank robbery suspect after a foot pursuit.

 

  Life Saving Medal - Concord Police Department (2014), for performing lifesaving CPR on an unresponsive citizen.

 

  Meritorious Service Award - Concord Police Department (2020), for outstanding service and dedication.

 

CHP 10851 Award (5 Awards) - Walnut Creek and Concord Police Departments, for apprehending suspects driving stolen vehicles.

WHEREAS, Officer Huth's professionalism, courage under pressure, leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice have earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow officers, supervisors, and the countless citizens he faithfully served throughout his career; and

WHEREAS, his legacy is reflected not only in the awards he received, but also in the officers he mentored, the lives he protected, and the communities made safer through his dedication and sacrifice;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Supervisors does hereby honor Michael J. Huth for his remarkable service, his enduring impact on the community, and his unwavering commitment to public good.
