ADOPT Resolution to honor and recognize Delano Johnson for his longstanding service and support to Bay Point and the East Contra Costa County Community, as recommended by Supervisor Scales-Preston.

BACKGROUND:
Delano Johnson was a respected community leader and dedicated advocate whose service and compassion made a lasting impact throughout Bay Point and East Contra Costa County. In 2012, he founded Bay Point Community All-N-One, Inc., an organization committed to connecting individuals and families with essential resources and support services.
Through his leadership, the organization provided food distribution, housing support, clothing, hygiene products, and community outreach programs that served hundreds of families throughout the region. Mr. Johnson also helped organize community events and initiatives that promoted unity, support for local families, and neighborhood engagement.
Mr. Johnson worked collaboratively with numerous nonprofit organizations, faith-based groups, and community partners to expand access to services and strengthen support networks for East County residents. His dedication to serving others earned recognition from elected officials and community organizations, including a Congressional Record from Congressman Mark DeSaulnier in 2022.
His legacy of service, compassion, and community leadership continues to be felt throughout Contra Costa County.

IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING THE LIFE, SERVICE, AND LASTING LEGACY OF DELANO JOHNSON
WHEREAS, Delano Johnson was a dedicated servant leader, visionary, and beloved pillar of the Bay Point community whose compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others transformed countless lives throughout Contra Costa County; and
Whereas, Delano Johnson founded Bay Point Community All-N-One, Inc. in 2012, dedicating his life to empowering residents of East County Contra Costa through programs and services that connected families with essential resources including housing assistance, food, clothing, and hygiene products; and
WHEREAS, through his leadership, Bay Point Community All-N-One, Inc. hosted weekly community support events serving up to 200 families each week and organized annual Thanksgiving Giveaways distributing more than 1,000 turkeys and chickens to families in need, ensuring members of the community could celebrate the holiday with dignity and care; and
WHEREAS, Delano Johnson believed deeply in the power of collaboration and worked alongside numerous nonprofit organizations, churches, and community partners, including The Ambrose Center, West Pittsburg Community Church, The Bay Church, White Pony Express, the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, Village Keepers, and Stand Together Contra Costa, creating a strong network of support and resources for East County residents; and
WHEREAS, Delano Johnson also organized and supported annual Unity and Community events, Backpack Drives, Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, and Cancer Awareness events in Bay Point, each reflecting his enduring commitment to community empowerment, togetherness, and hope; and
WHEREAS, Delano Johnson’s extraordinary service and dedication were recognized by numerous elected officials and organizations, including receiving a Congressional Record from Congressman Mark DeSaulnier in 2022 in recognition of his profound impact and tireless service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Delano Johnson’s legacy continues to live on through the families he supported, the partnerships he built, and the spirit of compassion and service he inspired in others throughout Contra Costa County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize and honor the life, service, and lasting legacy of Delano Johnson, and commend his extraordinary dedication to serving the residents of Bay Point and East Contra Costa County.
