RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee (Director of Environmental Health, Assistant Director of Health Services, or Deputy Director of Health Services), to submit Application #28-511-49 to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), to pay County an amount not to exceed $26,128, for the continuation of the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) assistance funds for the Department's Environmental Health Division Solid Waste Program, for the period July 1, 2024 through October 31, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will result in a payment to the County of $26,128 for the Department's Solid Waste Program. No County match required.
BACKGROUND:
The CalRecycle provides these grants annually to assist Statewide LEA in performing their duties. Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 43230, this grant award will be used solely for the support of the solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs, including personnel, training, equipment, supplies, and technical support.
On November 28, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved Grant Agreement #28-511-48 with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), to pay the County in an amount not to exceed $26,112, to support of the solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs for the period from November 7, 2023 through October 29, 2024.
Approval of application #28-511-49 will allow the County to apply to receive funds for continuation of the LEA assistance funds, through October 31, 2025.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this agreement is not approved, the county will not receive funds to support its solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs.
