RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Resolution recognizing Robert “Frank” Austin, for his 35 years of service to Contra Costa County, as recommended by the Public Works Director.

IN THE MATTER OF
The contributions of Robert “Frank” Austin for his 35 years of service to Contra Costa County
WHEREAS, in 1989, Frank began his career with Contra Costa County in the General Services Department as a Custodian I; and
WHEREAS In March of 1989, Frank was recognized for completing the General Services Custodial Training Program; and
WHEREAS In September of 1990, Frank was promoted to Custodian II; and
WHEREAS From 1996 through 2008, Frank received 7 special recognitions for his excellent customer service and work helping to maintain 651 Pine Street; and
WHEREAS In September of 1996, Frank received a commendation for his excellent work maintaining the office facilities of the Environmental Health Division; and
WHEREAS In January of 2007, Frank received a customer service commendation from Silvano Marchesi, County Counsel, expressing appreciation for his teamwork approach, excellent clean-up, willingly fulfilling custodial requests, and frequently going above and beyond to provide supplies and support to County Counsel staff; and
WHEREAS In July of 2007, Frank received a customer service commendation from Patricia Burke, Director of CCTV, expressing appreciation for Frank finding her digital camera in the board chambers and securing it overnight in a safe place; and
WHEREAS In March of 2008, Madlin King, Executive Secretary, in preparing for the Martin Luther King celebration at 651 Pine Street, expressed appreciation for Frank who was in the lobby with a moving cart, cleaning supplies, a willing attitude and helpful ideas; and
WHEREAS Frank was also recognized by staff from Human Resources for his and other custodial staff’s assistance with cleaning, relocating, and securing the area so it was ready for the next-day festivities; and
WHEREAS Frank received special recognition for perfect attendance in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010; and
WHEREAS Frank is well respected by Public Works staff because of his dedicated service; and
WHEREAS Frank is a proud owner of a Harley Davidson and Ford Mustang, a Green Bay Packer fan, and a great storyteller of the eventful times of his life; and
WHEREAS Frank is devoted to public service; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Robert “Frank” Austin be recognized for his 35 years of dedicated service to Contra Costa County and for the high quality of work performed by him during his career.
