RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-798-1 with Courtney Wright, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $300,000, to provide obstetrics and family medicine services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from November 1, 2023 through October 31, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this contract will result in contractual service expenditures of up to $300,000 over a three-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
Due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers rely on contractors to provide necessary obstetrics and family medicine services for its patients. CCRMC has contracted with Dr. Wright for obstetrics and family medicine services since November 1, 2022. This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code § 1451. Health Services Personnel approved this contract to ensure no conflicts with labor relations. Per Administrative Bulletin 600.3 CCRMC Physician services are exempt from Solicitation requirements.
In October 2022, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #76-798 with Courtney Wright, M.D., in an amount not to exceed $140,000, for the provision of obstetrics and family medicine services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period from November 1, 2022 through October 31, 2023.
Approval of Contract #76-798-1 will allow the contractor to continue providing obstetrics and family medicine services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through October 31, 2026.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring obstetrics and family medicine services will not have access to contractor’s services and may experience delays in acquiring services.
