From: Dr. Grant Colfax, Health Services Director
Report Title: Purchase Order with Aladdin Temp-Rite, LLC
Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a one-time capital purchase order with Aladdin Temp-Rite, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $477,080, and a Letter of Intent to purchase patient meal carts for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center’s (CCRMC) Nutrition Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time capital purchase expenditure of up to $477,080 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC's Nutrition Services Department is undertaking seismic construction in the hospital kitchen. As part of that project, the department recently purchased docking stations compatible with Aladdin Temp-Rite's meal delivery platform. The patient meal carts covered by this purchase order must align with and operate with those docking stations. Purchasing the carts from Aladdin Temp-Rite, LLC ensures compatibility, maintains the integrity of the existing meal delivery system, and supports continuity of patient meal service during and after the kitchen seismic construction project. The seismic kitchen construction project began in September 2026 and will continue for approximately three years. During that time, the normal meal tray path for delivering patient meals will be demolished. Delivery logistics will include loading meal carts into trucks to deliver to the loading dock near the emergency department. The delay in tray delivery will cause food temperatures to drop to potentially unsafe levels during transport.
Nutrition Services recently purchased food temperature boosting docking stations that require specific carts to function. We are requesting purchase of these specific carts recently added to the Vizient GPO (no sole source or solicitation required). This will be a one-time purchase and will help ensure patient meals are delivered at regulatory compliant temperatures.
A Letter of Intent is included with this action to confirm the County's commitment to the purchase and to allow Aladdin Temp-Rite, LLC to initiate production and delivery scheduling in advance of formal purchase order execution.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve this action will result in additional challenges with patient meal delivery logistics to the hospital and will compromise food quality and safety to the patients.
