Report Title: Contract #76-644-5 with Steris Corporation

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #76-644-5 with Steris Corporation, a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $778,648, to provide preventive maintenance services and emergency repair services when requested by County on infection prevention sterilizers medical equipment located at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period December 1, 2024 through November 30, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Contract will allow contractual services in an amount up to $778,648 over a three-year period and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have an obligation to provide essential health care services in its facilities and has contracted with Steris Corporation for its maintenance and repair services for County’s infection prevention equipment since June 2019. Contractor’s professional and reliable scheduled maintenance services and emergency repair availability when requested have proven to be an asset to County’s crucial services by providing the essential maintenance services that keep medical equipment at the ready when infection prevention medical equipment is required in a reliable and effective manner.
This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code § 1451. Health Services Personnel approved this Contract to ensure no conflicts with labor relations. This contractor has been approved by the Public Works Department’s Purchasing Division on August 14, 2024.
On March 23, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-644-2 with Steris Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $614,992, to provide repair and maintenance services on infection prevention equipment at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2024.
On March 26, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment #76-644-4 to increase the payment limit from $614,992 to a new payment limit of $1,790,000 and extend the termination date of May 31, 2024 November 30, 2024 for additional repair and maintenance of sterilizers at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers.
Approval of Contract #76-644-5 will allow the Contractor to continue providing repair and maintenance services on infection prevention sterilizers medical equipment located at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period December 1, 2024 through November 30, 2027. This Contract includes additional limitation of liability language in conjunction with County General Conditions Paragraph 18 (Indemnification).
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Contract is not approved, repairs and maintenance services will not be provided by this Contractor and may cause delays in infection prevention services, which may affect services being available.
