Castillo, M.D., Inc., a corporation, effective October 1, 2026, to amend Contract #26-786-10 (as amended by Contract Amendment #26-786-11) to increase the payment limit by $110,000, from $600,000 to an amount not to exceed $710,000, to provide additional urogynecology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers, with no change in the term ending November 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Contract Amendment will result in additional expenditures of up to $110,000 and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
Due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community, CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers relies on contractors to provide necessary specialty health services to its patients. Contractor will provide urogynecology services including, but not limited to: clinic coverage, consultation and on-call coverage. CCRMC has been contracting with Peter A. Castillo, M.D., Inc., since December 2014.
This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000; and Health and Safety Code § 1451. Health Services Personnel approved this Contract to ensure no conflicts with labor relations. CCRMC’s Quality Management, Utilization Management and Contract Monitor Staff meet on a regular basis to ensure monitoring and performance measures in the contract are upheld. Per Administrative Bulletin 600.4, CCRMC Physician services are exempt from Solicitation requirements.
On March 11, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-786-10 with Peter A. Castillo, M.D., Inc., in an amount not to exceed $600,000, for the provision of urogynecology services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers for the period December 1, 2024 through November 30, 2026.
On November 4, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract Amendment #26-786-11 with Peter A. Castillo, M.D., Inc., effective October 1, 2025, to provide additional urogynecology services at CCRMC with no change in the payment limit or term.
Approval of Contract Amendment #26-786-12 will allow the Contractor to provide additional urogynecology services at CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers through November 30, 2026.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Contract Amendment is not approved, the necessary additional specialty urogynecology services needed for patient care will not be available or will create increased wait times due to the limited number of specialty providers available within the community.
