Report Title: Purchase Order with Covidien Sales LLC

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Interim Health Services Director, a purchase order with Covidien Sales LLC in an amount not to exceed $15,676 and Letter of Commitment for the purchase of a hysteroscope mini for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time expenditure of up to $15,676 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Covidien Sales LLC is a subsidiary of Medtronic, a global healthcare company specializing in medical technology, services, and solutions. Covidien was originally an independent medical device and supplies company. The company focuses on products related to surgical solutions, patient monitoring, respiratory care, and medical supplies.
The TruClear Elite Hysteroscope Mini from Covidien is a medical instrument for minimally invasive gynecological procedures. It is used to diagnose and treat intrauterine abnormalities such as fibroids and polyps. This hysteroscope has a slim 6 mm outer diameter, making it a less invasive option. It may help reduce patient discomfort during procedures. The device features a high-definition rod lens optical system, providing clear and detailed imaging. The hysteroscope includes an extended working channel for full uterine access, including difficult areas like the cornua and fundal wall. Its angled tip design allows for smoother insertion through the cervical canal, improving procedural efficiency.
The Covidien Sales LLC Letter of Commitment (LOC) specifies that Covidien Sales LLC will have no liability for loss of profits or incidential, special, consequential, or other similar damages with respect to third party for claims. Approval of this request will allow CCRMC to enhance patient care, streamline operations, and ensure the availability of essential resources for optimal healthcare delivery.
Covidien Sales LLC is a member of the Vizient Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), which allows CCRMC to leverage pricing discounts and deliver high-quality, cost-effective healthcare solutions.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to procure the necessary equipment and supplies needed for patient care, which may impact operational efficiency, delay treatments, or hinder essential medical procedures.
