IN THE MATTER OF honoring Allen Vinson, Pleasant Hill City Council Member, for the time he served as a Councilmember for the City of Pleasant Hill

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Allen Vinson and his wife Sandy have lived in Pleasant Hill since 1977; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson served on the Pleasant Hill Planning Commission from 2016 until his appointment to the City Council on February 16, 2023; and

 

Whereas, he served one year as Chair of the Planning Commission, contributed as a member of the General Plan Committee during its early stages, and represented the Commission on the Economic Development Committee, demonstrating his commitment to thoughtful urban planning and community development; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson and his wife, Sandy, have demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to the Pleasant Hill community and have exemplified outstanding public service through their long-standing volunteer efforts; and

 

Whereas, for 13 years, Allen and Sandy have served as valued members of the Pleasant Hill 4th of July Commission, working tirelessly to organize and enhance the community's Independence Day celebrations; and

 

Whereas, during his service, Mr. Vinson provided exemplary leadership as President of the Commission for two years, guiding the organization with vision, integrity, and a deep sense of civic responsibility; and

 

Whereas, their collective efforts have greatly contributed to the success of the Pleasant Hill 4th of July festivities, fostering community spirit and unity; and

 

Whereas, in recognition of their exceptional contributions and dedication to the community, Allen and Sandy were honored as Pleasant Hill's Citizens of the Year for 2017, a testament to their lasting impact on the town and its residents; and

 

Whereas, in addition, Mr. Vinson has played an instrumental role in numerous other community organizations and events, continually enriching the lives of residents and fostering a spirit of cooperation and goodwill; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson’s contributions include serving as President of the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hill during the 2017-2018 term and continuing as the current Membership Chair; and

 

Whereas, he has chaired the Rotary Club’s St. Patrick’s Day Auction Committee, playing a vital role in organizing this annual event for the benefit of the community; and

 

Whereas, he has actively participated in the Blues and Brews Festival, the Chamber of Commerce Art, Wine & Music event, and served on the Pleasant Hill Elementary School Site Council, contributing to the growth and development of the local school community; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson assisted in the development of the Pleasant Hill Elementary school safety plan, further ensuring the well-being of students and staff; and

 

Whereas, his involvement in youth sports includes coaching and serving as a commissioner for the Pleasant Hill Baseball and Soccer Associations, where he fostered teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among young athletes; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson has actively participated in Community Service Day, contributing his time and energy to projects that benefit the broader community; and

 

Whereas, as a volunteer photographer, he has captured and shared the memories of various events, further strengthening the community’s connection to its activities and celebrations; and

 

Whereas, when a vacancy arose on the Pleasant Hill City Council following the election of Ken Carlson to the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Vinson stepped up to the task, selflessly offering his time, energy, and expertise to continue the work of the Council and serve the citizens of Pleasant Hill; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson’s willingness to fill this important position highlights his deep sense of civic responsibility and dedication to maintaining the stability and progress of the city during a time of transition; and

 

Whereas, his service on the Pleasant Hill City Council further exemplifies his long-standing commitment to improving the community through leadership, collaboration, and active engagement in local government; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Vinson's contributions to the Pleasant Hill City Council, combined with his extensive work in other community organizations, have made a lasting positive impact on the city and its residents.

 

 

 

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors recognizes Mr. Allen Vinson for his exceptional service as a Councilmember for the City of Pleasant Hill, his outstanding leadership, and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of the community.
