FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Contra Costa County Historical Landmarks Advisory Committee (HLAC) is to advise the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to the identification and preservation of historical resources within the County, including identifying eligible sites and places to be listed in the County's Historic Resources Inventory (HRI).
The HLAC includes five (5) members. The Contra Costa County Historical Society nominates four (4) members. The Deputy Director of Contra Costa County Conservation and Development Department or designee serves as the fifth member.
The Contra Costa County Historical Society considered the renewal of terms for Historical Landmarks Advisory Committee members: Carol Jensen, Melissa Jacobson, Anthony Geisler, and David Yuers at their September 17, 2026, meeting and approved a recommendation to extend their terms. The motion was seconded and approved. If this recommendation is approved by the Board of Supervisors, this will extend all four members’ terms to August 12, 2030.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The suggested appointees will not be able to serve on the Historical Landmarks Advisory Committee, which could impact the body’s ability to achieve quorum and conduct business.
