Report Title: Purchase Order with Omnicell, Inc.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a one-time purchase order with Omnicell, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $66,768 for repair services of the Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers for the of period of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time expenditure of up to $66,768 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has used Omnicell, Inc. since 2005 throughout the continuum of care. The Automated Dispensing Cabinets, (ADC) are integrated with the Pharmacy information system within EPIC, enabling real-time coordination and management of pharmaceutical workflows. They are essential for ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient medication management, reducing medication errors, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
On May 12, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved agenda item C.63 to execute purchase order #19813 with Omnicell, Inc. in the amount of $325,872 for repair services for the Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from September 1, 2020 through August 31, 2025.
All invoices for calendar year 2025 were processed under purchase order #19813. Following its expiration, miscommunication between the department and the vendor delayed initiation of the renewal process, resulting in the outstanding invoice issued on January 20, 2026. To prevent recurrence, the Inpatient Pharmacy will initiate the renewal request prior to purchase order expiration. On June 17, 2026 the Purchasing Agent approved the continued use of Omnicell, Inc.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the County will be unable to process payment for repair and support services, which are essential for the continued safe and secure operation of automated dispensing cabinets at CCRMC and Health Centers.
