Report Title:                     Purchase Order with Norix Group, Inc.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Interim Health Services Director, a one-time purchase order with Norix Group, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $3,678, and ACCEPT terms and conditions for the purchase of furniture for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in a one-time expenditure of up to $3,678 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.

BACKGROUND:

Norix Group, Inc. is a manufacturer that specializes in creating durable and high-performance furniture designed for challenging environments, such as correctional facilities, healthcare, behavioral health, and other public safety and institutional settings. The company's products are engineered to be tamper-resistant, highly durable, and safe, often made with materials that can withstand heavy use and potentially aggressive conditions. Norix is known for providing furniture solutions that address the unique needs of populations in environments where safety and security are critical.

CCRMC is seeking to purchase new furniture for the psychiatric unit to replace existing pieces that are broken, cracked, and significantly worn, rendering them unsafe and no longer suitable for patient use. Replacing the patio furniture is essential to maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Providing stable and appropriate seating is critical to supporting patient well-being and preventing potential injuries.

Purchases from Norix Group, Inc. are subject to Norix’s Standard Terms and Conditions, which limit Norix’s liability to exclude special, consequential, and incidental damages for product defects and late deliveries and non-deliveries of goods. Approval of this request will allow Norix Group, Inc. to provide durable, high-performance furniture designed to meet the specific safety and durability requirements for CCRMC.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, CCRMC will not be able to procure the necessary furniture to replace the damaged items, which could impact the safety and functionality of the space.
