RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Resolution No. to approve and authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute an agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to accept and distribute 500 check booklets with a value of $50 each, totaling $25,000, for the 2024 Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program for the period May 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, and to accept any additional check booklets if provided.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
On July 18, 2023, the Board approved item C.37 to execute an agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to participate in the 2023 Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program for the period June 1, 2023, through September 30, 2023, to accept and distribute check booklets to low-income seniors aged 60 and older at authorized farmers markets. This funding will support the 2024 farmers market season between May 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024. County to receive 500 check booklets valued at $50 each for a total of $25,000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the proposed action not be approved by the Board of Supervisors, the Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program will not be delivered in Contra Costa County this year.

WHEREAS, on July 18, 2023, the Board approved item C.37 to execute an agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to participate in the 2023 Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program for the period June 1, 2023, through September 30, 2023, to accept and distribute check booklets to low-income seniors aged 60 and older at authorized farmers markets, and WHEREAS, 2024 funding will support the 2024 farmers market season between May 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute agreement 29-443-1 with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to accept and distribute check booklets for the 2024 Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program for the period May 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024.
