Resolution recognizing Senator Steve Glazer
Of California state senate, district 7
Whereas, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors honors and celebrates the dedicated and continued service over the years of Steve Glazer, Senator of California State Senate, District 7, which includes most of Contra Costa County <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contra_Costa_County> and all of District 2; and
WHEREAS, Steve began his career in “politics” at a young age when he became the president of his class at California Junior High in Sacramento; and later was Student Body President at San Diego State University; and
Whereas, Senator Glazer served on the Orinda Park and Recreation Commission from 1997 to 1999, and then was elected to the City Council of Orinda in 2004, 2008, and 2012. He served as mayor of the City of Orinda <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orinda,_California> in 2007, 2012 and 2015; and
Whereas, Senator Glazer has always demonstrated his fiscal responsibility whether serving on the Recycle Smart Board of Directors representing the City of Orinda; or as a member of the California State University Board of Trustees, to which he was appointed in 2011 by Governor Jerry Brown; or in his role as a State Senator; and
Whereas, Senator Glazer authored a number of state bills advocating and thereby ensuring a better community for his constituents, including legislation in 2019 to create the office of Inspector General for the Bay Area Rapid Transit <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_Area_Rapid_Transit> Authority to look for waste, fraud and abuse in the agency. He jointly authored a bill in 2020 to ban the sale of flavored tobacco <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavored_tobacco> with a focus on keeping children and teens safe from the effects and addiction to nicotine. In In 2021, Glazer proposed legislation that would require oversight of mental healthcare <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_healthcare> spending in California just to name a few; and
Whereas, from 2017-2018 Glazer was a member of the Budget & Fiscal Review, Human Services, and Senate Select Committee on Student Success committees in addition to serving as Chairman of the Governmental Organization and Insurance committees; and
Whereas, from 2019-2020 Glazer was a member of the committees on Agriculture, Education, Government Organizations, and Insurance. He also chaired the Senate Select Committee on Student Success and the Business, Professions & Economic Development committee; and
Whereas, from 2020-2021, during the COVID-19 Pandemic Senator Glazer both helped keep the community engaged in the important health and safety issues surrounding the pandemic, and held monthly Town Halls and Roundtable discussions; and
Whereas, from 2021-2022 Glazer was a member of the Agriculture, Education, Governmental Organization, and Insurance committees and the chairman of the Elections and Constitutional Amendment Committee; and
Whereas, Steve is a long time resident of Orinda where he and his wife Melba raised their two daughters Ariel and Alex, and have selflessly given back to their community in many ways over the years.

Steve Glazer
For his dedication, hard work and loyalty to Senate District 7 and all its residents.
