RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT resolution recognizing Teresa Datar as Contra Costa County’s 2025 Bike Champion of the Year.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

 

BACKGROUND:

Teresa Datar has been selected as 511 Contra Costa’s Bike Champion of the Year for advancing local cycling through her actions, her advocacy and her own riding.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

IN THE MATTER OF

Recognizing Teresa Datar, as Contra Costa County’s 2025 Bike Champion of the Year.

 

 

WHEREAS, Teresa Datar has been selected as 511 Contra Costa’s Bike Champion of the Year for advancing local cycling through her actions, her advocacy and her own riding; and

WHEREAS, Teresa rides her bicycle and BART most days of the week to commute from her home in Brentwood to her office in Martinez, pedaling nearly 30 miles round-trip per day; and

WHEREAS, Teresa has shown her love for the sport of cycling, competing in road cycling races throughout California, earning multiple wins and podium placements as a Category 4 racer, and completing the Davis Double Century by riding the 200-mile course in one day; and

WHEREAS, Teresa serves as a member of Contra Costa County’s Green Government Group (G3) Champions, a network of County employees focused on climate action, where she has shared her passion for and knowledge of cycling with her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Teresa has helped more people become passionate and knowledgeable about cycling through her previous work in the bike department at a sporting goods store, where she also helped organize bike-oriented events; and

WHEREAS, Teresa has worked to build the cycling community in East Contra Costa County through group rides and other activities with Delta Pedalers;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is pleased to recognize Teresa Datar for her positive influence on cycling in Contra Costa County and the personal example she sets as a dedicated bike commuter.
