IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION HONORING KEN ABRAMS UPON HIS

RETIREMENT FROM THE DANVILLE GIRLS CHORUS

 

WHEREAS, Ken Abrams has dedicated 34 years of exceptional leadership, artistry, and service as Director of the Danville Girls Chorus, enriching the lives of countless young singers and their families; and

WHEREAS, prior to and during his tenure with the Danville Girls Chorus, Ken Abrams served as a dedicated music educator at San Ramon Valley High School, where he inspired and mentored generations of student musicians through his commitment to excellence in choral music education; and

WHEREAS, his years of teaching at San Ramon Valley High School reflected his deep passion for developing young talent, fostering a strong foundation in musical literacy, performance skills, and lifelong appreciation for the arts; and

WHEREAS, the Danville Girls Chorus, founded in 1993, was established to provide young singers in the San Ramon Valley with high-quality choral training and performance opportunities, and has since grown into a premier youth chorus serving hundreds of girls across multiple ensemble levels each year; and

WHEREAS, under his direction, the Danville Girls Chorus has flourished into a highly respected choral program known for its musical excellence, strong educational foundation, and commitment to developing confidence, discipline, and creativity in young performers; and

WHEREAS, Ken Abrams has inspired generations of students through his passion for music, mentorship, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child, leaving a lasting impact far beyond the stage; and

WHEREAS, his leadership has fostered a supportive and inclusive environment where young voices are empowered, lifelong friendships are formed, and a deep appreciation for the arts is cultivated; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Ken Abrams has strengthened the cultural fabric of the community by sharing the gift of music through performances, regional and international tours, and collaborations that have brought joy and inspiration to audiences near and far; and

WHEREAS, his legacy will endure through the many lives he has touched, the traditions he has built, and the continued success of the Danville Girls Chorus;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes and honors

for his 34 years of outstanding service, dedication, and contributions to the community, and extends its deepest gratitude and best wishes for a fulfilling and joyful retirement.
