FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost of this product is included in the Department’s FY 23-24 budget.

BACKGROUND:

Jamf specializes in Apple device management solutions, with their flagship product being Jamf Pro, an enterprise-level MDM (Mobile Device Management) software tailored for Apple devices like Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs.  The Department of Information Technology (DOIT) Network Services staff utilizes Jamf Pro software and support services to assist in handling device enrollment and inventory, profile configuration, App management, implementation of security controls, deployment of software updates and patches, and remote management to troubleshoot issues from a centralized location.  Jamf Pro software also assists DOIT staff in providing reporting and analytics on devise usage, compliance status, and security posture, which enables data-driven decision-making and monitoring of device performance.

Jamf’s Software License and Services Agreement contains an indemnification provision from the County to JAMF and a Limitation of Jamf’s liability to the amount paid by the County with respect to the software and/or services to which they relate in the 12-month period preceding any claim.

This item was competitively bid by three vendors. Jamf was chosen because they provide additional services including no-cost training and access to a success manager to review feature releases.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Not having Jamf Pro software for managing assigned County Apple devices could result in operational inefficiencies, security risks, compliance challenges and difficulties in overall device management and support.
