Report Title:                     Approve and Authorize to fully close northbound lanes of Danville Boulevard, and to fully close Jackson Way, on December 7, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m., for the purpose of the annual Alamo Tree Lighting Festival, Alamo area.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Resolution approving and authorizing the Public Works Director, or designee, to fully close northbound lanes of Danville Boulevard between Orchard Court and Jackson Way, and to fully close Jackson Way at the intersection with Danville Boulevard, on December 7, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m., for the purpose of the annual Alamo Tree Lighting Festival, Alamo area. (District II)

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

 

BACKGROUND:

The annual Alamo tree lighting event provides a great opportunity for people to gather and helps foster a sense of community. The Rotary Club of Alamo shall follow guidelines set forth by the Public Works Department.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Rotary Club of Alamo will be unable to close the road to complete planned utility pole replacement.

IN THE MATTER OF: Approving and authorizing the Public Works Director, or designee, to fully close northbound lanes of Danville Boulevard between Orchard Court and Jackson Way, and to fully close Jackson Way at the intersection with Danville Boulevard, on December 7, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m., for the purpose of the annual Alamo Tree Lighting Festival, Alamo area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that permission is granted to The Rotary Club of Alamo to fully close northbound lanes of Danville Boulevard between Orchard Court and Jackson Way, and to fully close Jackson Way at the intersection with Danville Boulevard, except for emergency traffic, local residents, US Postal Service and garbage trucks, on December 7, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m., subject to the following conditions:

 

1. Traffic will be detoured via roads identified in a traffic control plan, reviewed by the Public Works Department. Emergency vehicles, residents within the event area and essential services will be allowed access as required.

 

2. All signing to be in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

 

3. The Rotary Club of Alamo shall comply with the requirements of the Ordinance Code of Contra Costa County.

 

4. Provide the County with a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for Comprehensive General Public Liability which names the County as an additional insured prior to permit issuance.

 

5. Obtain approval for the closure from the California Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Office, and the Contra Costa Fire Protection District.
