BACKGROUND:
County Public Health Department utilized Metropolitan Van and Storage Inc. during the COVID-19 Public Health emergency and maintains 1700 square feet in contractor’s warehouse to store COVID antigen test kits. Contractor was chosen by the Division because of their proven track record within county as they can store large quantities of emergency supplies and provide access to Public Health staff upon request. This contractor is dedicated to cycle counting and staging supplies for next day delivery services to any part of the county and provides chain of custody and proof of delivery documentation. Two other moving services companies were reviewed and neither provided the flexibility nor could they meet the chosen contractor’s rates. This contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code §§ 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code § 1451. Health Services Personnel approved this contract to ensure no conflicts with labor relations. This contractor has been approved by the Public Works Department’s Purchasing Division on December 20, 2023.
Approval of new Contract #72-221 will allow the contractor to provide moving services, furniture staging and equipment storage through March 31, 2027.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, Public Health Division will not use their chosen contractor for the required moving, furniture staging and equipment storage services.
