RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a Contract Amendment with Water One Industries, Inc., effective April 1, 2024, to increase the payment limit by $180,000 to a new payment limit of $360,000 and extend the term from February 28, 2025 to February 28, 2026, for on-call water treatment services at various County sites and facilities, Countywide.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Facilities Maintenance Budget. (100% General Fund)

 

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department, Facilities Services is responsible for maintenance and repairs of all County properties. The Public Works Department historically contracts out for water treatment services for the County’s heating and chilled closed loop water systems, cooling towers, cogeneration systems, steam boilers, and a chlorinated drinking water system. The contractor tests the systems water and provides chemicals to keep the water systems functioning as specified in the OEM requirements. The County has over 60 water systems Countywide.

 

Originally bid on BidSync #2106-488, Water One Industries, Inc., was the awarded vendor for this type of work. The Public Works Department originally awarded a three (3) year contract in the amount of $180,000 with the term March 1, 2022 through February 28, 2025 for water testing and treatment services.

 

Government Code Section 25358 authorizes the County to contract for maintenance and upkeep of County facilities.

 

Facilities Services is requesting Amendment No. 2 to be approved increasing the payment limit by $180,000 and extending the term from February 28, 2025 to February 28, 2026 for on-call water treatment services.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without the approval of this Contract Amendment No. 2, water treatment services with Water One Industries, Inc. will discontinue and current projects underway will not be completed.
