Report Title: Reallocate the salary of the Fire District Communications Center Manager

RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26512 to reallocate the salary of the Fire District Communications Center Manager (REDB) at salary plan and grade ZA 1929 from ($11,122.09 - $13,518.97) to ($12,957.23 - $15,749.60) in the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (District).
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval will result in an approximate 16.5% annual increase totaling an additional $26,768 in salary and benefit cost to the Fire District. The increase will be fully funded by the District’s General Operating Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Fire Protection District has historically struggled to recruit and retain this single-position classification that is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Contra Costa County Regional Fire Communications Center. A study was conducted of several Bay Area Fire agencies with comparable classifications which revealed that the Fire District Communications Center Manager is 16.5% below the median.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the salary for this classification is not reallocated, the Fire District will continue to struggle to recruit and retain qualified employees, which could disrupt this critical 24/7 operation.

IN THE MATTER OF the reallocation of the salary for the Fire District Communications Center Manager by 16.5%.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors acting in its capacity as the governing board of Contra Costa County RESOLVES THAT:
Effective October 1, 2025, the salary of the Fire District Communications Center Manager (Job Code - REDB) will be reallocated by 16.5% to a new monthly salary range of $12,957.23 - $15,749.60.
