Samhita Chikoti is a 7th grader at Gale Middle School in San Ramon, CA.

IN THE MATTER OF recognizing Samhita Chikoti as the 2024 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Rising Star Volunteerism, as recommended by the Cesar Chavez Committee

 

WHEREAS, every March, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hosts a celebration in honor of César E. Chávez in recognition of his commitment to social justice and respect for human dignity; and

 

WHEREAS, this year's theme is Perseverance & Progress - Perseverancia y Progreso; and

 

WHEREAS, we take this opportunity to share stories of local students who are working hard to move us forward and improve the lives of others; and

 

WHEREAS, we recognize these students with the Youth Hall of Fame Awards during the celebration for their contributions to our community and in the spirit of one of our country’s most treasured activists: César E. Chávez; and

 

WHEREAS, the Rising Star Awards are awarded to middle school students; and

 

WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is proud to recognize Samhita Chikoti, a 7th grader at Gale Middle School in San Ramon, CA; and

 

WHEREAS, Samhita is described as exceptionally mature for her age and demonstrating exceptional commitment to serving her community through diverse volunteer activities; and

 

WHEREAS, Samhita has been a great volunteer for the Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA); and

 

WHEREAS, last year, she amassed 116 hours of volunteer hours, which led to her being honored with The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) in the Gold Division; and

 

WHEREAS, Samhita’s willingness to tackle challenges and inspire others reflects her outstanding contributions to volunteerism and deserving recognition of this nomination; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors recognizes Samhita Chikoti as the 2024 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Volunteerism Rising Star, and for exemplifying the values of service, integrity, kindness, activism, and leadership that César Chávez embodied through his life.
