IN THE MATTER OF recognizing John A. Burgh on the occasion of his Retirement from the Contra Costa Water District Board of Directors.
WHEREAS, Director John Burgh has served the residents of Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Port Costa, and portions of Concord, representing Division 2 on the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) since 2004; and
WHEREAS, during his 22-year tenure on the Board, he has provided thoughtful leadership, including in his role as Chair of the Public Information & Conservation Committee, Operations & Engineering, Finance, and Retirement & OPEB Joint Advisory Committees; and
WHEREAS, Director Burgh brought to CCWD more than four decades of professional engineering experience, including 42 years working as an engineer on water and wastewater projects throughout the world, bringing a wealth of professional experience and perspective to the CCWD Board; and
WHEREAS, his technical expertise translated to thoughtful policy decisions ensuring CCWD makes sound investments in critical infrastructure to the benefit of all customers, including future generations; and
WHEREAS, while serving on the CCWD Board, his highest priorities have been transparency in spending public dollars, regional collaboration and smart infrastructure investments based on the best available data; and
WHEREAS, Director Burgh’s commitment to service extends beyond his professional and public agency work, including his role as past President of the Contra Costa County Historical Society, his membership in the Pleasant Hill Rotary Club, and his volunteer service as a Meals on Wheels driver delivering meals to homebound senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, as a resident of Concord for more than 35 years, Director Burgh has demonstrated a deep and enduring commitment to the well-being of the communities he has represented and served.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby honor John A. Burgh upon his retirement and recognize his 22 years of dedicated service to the residents of Contra Costa County.
