RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Resolution approving and authorizing the Public Works Director, or designee, to fully close all of Bermar Avenue, on June 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., for the purpose of hosting a community event about wildfire danger mitigation in the neighborhood, El Sobrante area. (District I)
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
Clark Road Firewise Neighborhood Group shall follow guidelines set forth by the Public Works Department. This road closure will allow for activities to promote wildfire prevention, preparedness, and safety measures.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Clark Road Firewise Neighborhood Group will be unable to close the road for planned activities.

IN THE MATTER OF: Approving and Authorizing the Public Works Director, or designee, to fully close all of Bermar Avenue, on June 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., for the purpose of hosting a community event about wildfire danger mitigation in the neighborhood, El Sobrante area. (District I)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that permission is granted to Clark Road Firewise Neighborhood Group to fully close Bermar Avenue, except for emergency traffic, local residents, US Postal Service and garbage trucks, on June 8, 2024, for the period of 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., subject to the following conditions:
1. Traffic will be detoured via roads identified in a traffic control plan, reviewed by the Public Works Department. Emergency vehicles, residents within the event area and essential services will be allowed access as required.
2. All signing to be in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
3. Clark Road Firewise Neighborhood Group shall comply with the requirements of the Ordinance Code of Contra Costa County.
4. Provide the County with a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for Comprehensive General Public Liability which names the County as an additional insured prior to permit issuance.
5. Obtain approval for the closure from the Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Fire District.
