Report Title: Contract Amendment #20-400-4 (Admin) Brain Squared Solutions

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Brain Squared Solutions to increase the payment limit by $37,000 to a new payment limit not to exceed $333,000 to provide further or additional professional development training to Employment and Human Services staff with no change to the term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$37,000: 54% Federal, 38% State, and 8% General Fund, all of which will be budgeted in FY 25-26.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) has been contracting with Brain Squared Solutions for over 5 years. The training provided is well researched and professionally designed to meet the needs of EHSD staff. This amendment seeks to add ten more trainings to the contract, to be performed within the existing contract period. The Board approved the initial contract on June 4, 2024 (C.38).
Brain Squared Solutions offers a variety of courses to staff including but not limited to: Empower to Perform, The Supervisor Series, Mentoring Program training, Critical Thinking, Effective Business Writing, Difficult Conversations, Emotional Intelligence, Giving & Receiving Feedback, You and a Successful Interview, Time Management and more. These educational services meet the exception for solicitation under Administrative Bulletin 600.3.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the proposed action not be approved by the Board of Supervisors, the County will be limited in its ability to offer additional professional development training.
