RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with GE Medical Systems, Ultrasound & Primary Care Diagnostics, LLC in an amount not to exceed $380,943, and a related agreement, for the purchase of two Voluson Expert 22 BT24 ultrasound devices for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time capital expenditure of up to $380,943 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
The Voluson Expert 22 is an ultra-premium ultrasound imaging platform with advanced ergonomic and customizable options that leverage tools such as artificial intelligence and automation to reduce repetitive actions and simplify exams. It is specifically designed for in-depth assessment of complicated anatomy particularly fetal first trimester, fetal cardiac, and gynecological anatomy. The Voluson Expert 22 enables the physicians to detect the undetectable and simplifies complex cases for faster assessment, detection, and diagnosis.
GE Medical Systems, Ultrasound & Primary Care Diagnostics, LLC is an awarded supplier on the Vizient Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contract portfolio for ultrasound devices. This equipment is needed for the new Maternal Fetal Medicine service line to provide standard care for patients needing high risk diagnostic imaging during their first and second trimesters. Maternal Fetal Medicine is a new specialty program at Contra Costa Health that diagnoses and cares for people with high-risk pregnancies. The program, which includes Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist obstetricians and sonographers, began on April 1, 2024.
