RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract Amendment #76-651-6 with Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland (dba UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital), a non-profit corporation, effective July 9, 2025, to amend Contract #76-651-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment #76-651-5), to increase the payment limit by $155,000, from $300,000 to a new payment limit of $455,000 to provide additional prenatal hemoglobinopathy screening services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Contra Costa Health Centers with no change in the term ending June 30, 2026.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Contract Amendment will result in additional budgeted expenditures of up to $155,000 and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:
CCRMC and Contra Costa Health Centers have an obligation to provide medical laboratory testing services for patients. Therefore, when specialized patient specimen testing is required for patient care and when the required testing equipment is not available at County facilities, the County contracts with outside laboratory testing services to provide specialized testing services. Contractor has been providing laboratory testing services since 2017 formerly under a purchase order with CCRMC.

This Contract is entered into under and subject to the following legal authorities: California Government Code ?? 26227 and 31000; Health and Safety Code ? 1451.
