Report Title:                     Contract with Steven Bernhard Huelsmann d/b/a Countertops by Steve for Solid Surface Countertops and Cabinetry Services, Countywide.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Steven Bernhard Huelsmann d/b/a Countertops by Steve in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, to provide solid surface countertop and cabinetry services at various County sites and facilities, for the period of June 1, 2025 through May 31, 2030, Countywide.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Facilities Maintenance Budget. (100% General Fund)

 

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department, Facilities Services, is responsible for maintaining countertops and cabinetry in County buildings. Government Code Section 25358 authorizes the County to contract for maintenance and upkeep of County facilities.

 

The Public Works Department recently conducted a formal solicitation for Solid Surface Countertops and Cabinetry. The Request for Proposal was originally bid on BidSync #2407-820-1. After thorough evaluation of the bid received, Steven Bernhard Huelsmann d/b/a Countertops by Steve was awarded this contract.

 

Work completed under this contract will consist of installation of new solid surface countertops, cabinetry,  hardware, wet wall panel products, and disposal of existing pieces. Facilities Services is requesting approval of a service contract with Steven Bernhard Huelsmann d/b/a Countertops by Steve for the term June 1, 2025 through May 31, 2030, in the amount of $1,000,000.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, solid surface countertop and cabinetry services with Steven Bernhard Huelsmann d/b/a Countertops by Steve will not be available, and cabinetry installations and upgrades across the County will remain on hold.
