Report Title: Final Settlement of Claim, Julia Santos vs. Contra Costa County
Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator
RECOMMENDATIONS:
RECEIVE this report concerning the final settlement of Julia Santos and AUTHORIZE payment from the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund in an amount not to exceed $90,000, less permanent disability advances.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund payment of $90,000, less permanent disability advances.
BACKGROUND:
Attorney Tyler S. Lopez, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization an agreement has been reached settling the workers' compensation claim of Julia Santos v. Contra Costa County. The Board's October 6, 2026, closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia, Andersen, Burgis, Carlson and Scales-Preston - Yes. This action is taken so that the terms of this final settlement and the earlier October 6, 2026, closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement are known publicly.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Case will not be settled.
