RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute contracts with the agencies and cities listed below to reimburse the County for forensic services provided by the Office of the Sheriff, for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027:

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no net County cost. This will be 100% funded by participant law enforcement agency fees.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff’s Forensic Laboratory will continue to provide forensic services for evidence retrieved at crime scenes, a crime scene expert to provide technical advice for processing complex evidence issues, and witness and expert testimony for services rendered for the contracting agencies listed above.

 

The contracts include mutual indemnification language.

 

 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, the Office of the Sheriff would not be able to provide this specialized forensic service to other law enforcement agencies.
