Report Title:                     Prohibit stopping, standing, or parking at all times on a segment of Garden Road.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2026/4554 to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking at all times on the south side of Garden Road (Road No. 1375AM), beginning at 147 feet west of the west curb line prolongation of Appian Way (Road No. 1271) and extending westerly a distance of 30 feet, El Sobrante area. (District I)

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

Traffic Engineering staff observed vehicles parked in the unrestricted area between two driveways on the south side that serve the Contra Costa County El Sobrante Library parking lot. The parked vehicles obstruct sight lines for motorists exiting the library onto Garden Road, particularly limiting visibility of eastbound traffic. Therefore, Transportation Engineering staff recommend establishing a parking prohibition on the south side of Garden Road, between the two driveways to improve sight lines for both library users and eastbound motorists.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Parking will remain unrestricted at this location.
