PROCLAIMING MAY 2025 AS ASIAN AMERICAN, NATIVE HAWAIIAN,
AND PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH
IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY.
Whereas, nearly one in every five Contra Costa County residents belong to an Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community, and Contra Costa County pays tribute to the many diverse cultures of the AANHPI community, recognizing their roles as educators, public officials, entrepreneurs, community builders and activists, and leaders shaping all facets of our society, culture, and daily lives; and
Whereas, with more than 6 million Californians of Asian or Pacific Islander descent, California is home to dynamic AAPI communities that are an invaluable part of the state and nation. May 2024 is proclaimed as California's Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, recognizing and celebrating California's diverse heritage with all the ways that AAPI Californians enrich and strengthen our society; and
Whereas, May 2025 is recognized as the national Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and we celebrate the diversity of cultures, breadth of achievement, and remarkable contributions of these communities; and
