Report Title:                     Garrett Technologies LLC

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Office of the Sheriff Custody Alternative Facility, a purchase order with Garrett Technologies LLC in the amount not exceeding $7,114 for a Paragon Metal Detection Device.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in an expenditure of up to $7,114 and will be funded 100% by the General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

Garrett Technologies will supply a metal detector system (GSA) (ADA), for the front lobby of the Custody Alternative Facility.  The metal detector is a standup unit where program participants will enter prior to entering the area where staff are working.  Garrett Technologies has supplied all courts with handheld wand devices for greater security when entering a court house, and the metal detector will enhance safety and security for participants and staff members.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Board does not approve, CAF will be unable to purchase a metal detector system to protect staff and program participants.
