RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the County Librarian, a purchase order with Niche Academy LLC, subject to the terms of their Terms & Conditions, in an amount not to exceed $10,000 for the renewal of Niche Academy Platform subscription, for the period April 2, 2025, through April 1, 2026.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Library Fund.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Library Department has used and continues to use Niche Academy, LLC for its Niche Academy Platform subscription. Niche Academy Platform is a library-oriented learning management system that provides patrons and staff with tutorials that inform and educate them about library resources and how to use them. The system integrates with the public website to easily provide access to resource help that is relevant to Library patrons.

 

The Terms and Conditions include an indemnification provision from the County to Niche Academy LLC for claims resulting directly or indirectly from an act or omission by the County, approved by County Counsel.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Purchase Order is not approved, the Contra Costa County Library patrons will not have access to a learning platform that assists in how to use library resources.
