RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to accept a donation from the Crockett Community Foundation Fund in the amount of $18,938.75 for the County to provide additional open hours at the Crockett Library for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is from the Crockett Community Foundation Fund. No County match required.
BACKGROUND:
On September 19, 1995, the Board of Supervisors appointed the Crockett Community Foundation as the advisory council regarding expenditures from the Community Benefits Program funded from the property tax increment of the Crockett Cogeneration Plan. On December 12, 1995, the Board of Supervisors committed 100% of the property tax increment of the Crockett Cogeneration Plant to Crockett programs, with 57% for new police services in Crockett and 43% for unspecified community benefits.
The County provides a base level of eighteen (18) weekly open hours at the Crockett Library. The additional funds from the Crockett Community Foundation Fund will provide for an additional six (6) weekly open hours at the Crockett Library for a total of twenty-four (24) weekly open hours. The Crockett Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1994 as a regional affiliate of the East Bay Community Foundation.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Crockett Library will only be open for the County-funded eighteen hours per week.
