IN THE MATTER OF IN Recognizing Chief Jamie Knox upon his retirement as Chief of Police for the City of Walnut Creek and honoring him for his distinguished career and dedicated service to the Walnut Creek Police Department and the community.


WHEREAS, Chief Jamie Knox has served as Chief of Police for the Walnut Creek Police Department since 2021, concluding a distinguished law enforcement career spanning more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Chief Knox began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Rocklin Police Department, later serving as Captain with the Novato Police Department in 2015 and the San Leandro Police Department in 2017; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Chief Knox has demonstrated a commitment to public safety, professionalism, and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he has served; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, Walnut Creek experienced historically low crime rates and a significant expansion of the Police Department, including the addition of five full-time officers and a Crime Prevention Specialist; and

WHEREAS, Chief Knox launched an innovative recruitment and branding campaign that successfully attracted top law enforcement talent, resulting in the hiring of 68 new employees between 2022 and 2025; and
